10 Places to Swim, Splash and Cool Off in the South Hills

Need to cool off on a hot day in the South Hills of Pittsburgh? Here's where to go!

Kids want to cool off, but not sure where to go in the South Hills? Here is a list of splash pads and pools in and around Baldwin, Bethel Park, Brentwood, Bridgeville, Castle Shannon, Dormont, Jefferson Hills, Mt. Lebanon, Mt. Oliver, Mt. Washington, Pleasant Hills, Pittsburgh, South Park, South Side, Upper St. Clair, West Mifflin and Whitehall PA to take kids on these hot summer days.

We advise always checking with the venue when possible before heading out as hours and availability can change due to any number of factors, ranging from weather to staffing issues.

Arlington Park Splash Pad

What to expect: Arlington Splash Pad located on the Arlington Playground

Dates and hours: Open 10am-8pm daily starting May 25th, 2024

Beechview Spray Park

Corner of Orangewood Avenue & Westfield
Beechview, PA  15216

What to expect: Beechview Spray Park located at Vanucci Playground is a perfect play date spot for smaller kiddos with a playground and spray park. Spray park includes dumping water buckets, rainbow sprayers, daisy showers and more. The park is enclosed with a large grassy area for your picnic blanket or to let your toddler run around. Let the bigger kids explore the tree covered hill behind the playground and climb some trees. 

Dates and hours: Beechview Spray park is open 10am-8pm daily starting May 25, 2024 with lifeguard on duty at 10am.

Moore Park

Brookline, PA  

What to expect: Moore Park is a Pittsburgh City Park that is not only home to a splash park but a children's playground, Olympic sized pool, water slide, ball fields and more. MORE INFO

Wiltshire Park

McMurray Road 
Upper St. Clair, PA 15241

What to expect: This playground was designed for kids ages 5-12 years old but has plenty of qualities that the whole family will love and is absolutely a kid fan favorite in the South Hills. There are tons of slides, play towers attached by wobbly bridges and accessible by ladders, rock walls, and climbing nets. There's a covered pavilion for packing lunches, indoor bathrooms, a frog water feature and a sandbox! In addition to the playground there is a creek that the kids can play in.

Warrington Spray Park

329 E. Warrington Avenue
Beltzhoover, PA

What to expect: Located directly behind the Warrington Community Center, this fenced in spray park includes a water dome, misters, sprinklers and has a lifeguard on duty during spray park hours. If you happen to be there when the lifeguard not and need to turn on the water, locate the short blue pole with red cap at the front of the park and press down on the top.

South Park Wave Pool

1 Wave Pool Complex, Bethel Park, PA 15102

What to expect: The South Park wave pool has been a standard for fun for South Hill's families for years. With depths ranging from zero level entry to over 8 feet deep, swimmers of all abilities can enjoy cycles of waves in between periods of calm waters. Because the South Park Wave Pool is wheelchair accessible, you can take a trip and have the time of your life with everyone you love. If you're still looking for a summer job, they're hiring lifeguards! 

Dates and hours: Open daily starting in June, 11:30 am-7:30 pm, weather and conditions permitting. 

Admission price: Adults $6, Kids 6-17 $5, 5 and under $1


Baldwin Pool

Dormont Pool

What to expect: Dormont pool has a concession stand, a kiddy pool and family fun slide. 

Dates and hours: Opens Saturday, May 25, 2024 through Monday, September 2, 2024. Closed first Monday of each month. Weekends/Non School Year: 12:00pm-8:00pm, weekdays noon -7:30p,

Admission price: $8/person children under 3 are free

Moore Pool

Admission price: $3 for youth/ $5 adult (ages 16 and older) or consider purchasing a Pool Tag for the season. 




Upper St. Clair Pool

Mayview Rd, Upper St Clair, PA 15241

What to expect:

  • year-round aquatic activities with their spectacular indoor pool
  • zero entry water play
  • water slides
  • lily pads
  • children's water features (ideal for younger children)
  • ADA accessible

Dates and hours: Outdoor pool is open Monday through Saturday from 11am-7pm and Sunday's 11-7. 

Admission price: Non-members are welcome to purchase a daily visitor pass at $15 per person; Monday through Friday and must do so in advance online. Space is limited. No daily visitor passes will be sold at the door or on Saturdays and Sundays. Click here for more information
