We are lucky to have so many fall attractions, events, and places to take kids in Pittsburgh where families have been making fall memories for years. Simmon's Farm Hayrides and Fall Activities

Simmon's Farm Market features a full-service greenhouse, fresh produce, a petting zoo, hayride to the pumpkin patch, playground area and corn kernel sensory bin. Their fall activities include hayrides, a 2 acre corn maze, tire maze, tire lift, 100 ft slide, fire truck slide, rubber duck mazes and more for only $13/person. Fall Festival at Trax Farms

Every Saturday & Sunday Starting September 23rd - October 22nd from 10am-5pm

The Fall Festival at Trax Farm is a tradition for many families in the South Hills and greater Pittsburgh area. There’s something for everyone from grandparents to grandkids. Enjoy live music, food trucks, a hayride to the pumpkin patch to pick-your-own pumpkin or see if you can find your way through the giant, 3-acre corn maze! The event is free to attend, but the cost for Hayrides to access the corn maze and pumpkin patch is $12/person online ($14/person at Trax), 2 years and under are FREE (pumpkins are not included in price). Advance tickets are strongly advised as they will get priority boarding and there will be a limited amount of in-person tickets available. Great Pumpkin Festival at the Spring House

Phantom Fall Fest

Phantom Fall Fest lets guests do Halloween their way: come early for family-friendly fun, including festive food and special autumn decorations. More rides and coasters will be open for this year’s fall event than ever before, along with Kiddieland, Thomas Town™ and other family favorites available during the day. During the day, the Phantom and his fearsome friends will stay away. Kiddieland and Thomas Town™ will be open for the smallest ghouls, along with other signature family rides for pint-sized thrill seekers. New this year, kids ages 10 & under can participate in Kenny's Trick-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt from 12 - 5 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday, September 30 - October 29. 

At 6 p.m. the fear kicks in gear! When the sun goes down, the Phantom takes screams to the extreme with seven haunted houses, four scare zones and hair-raising thrills throughout the park. If you’re up for full-on frights, then Kennywood after dark is your scream come true. Pittsburgh Zombie Assault at Urban Assault Paintball

Zombies are once again attacking Urban Assault near Pittsburgh, and your help is needed in stopping this outbreak! Navigate your way through the woods on the haunted trail as you fend off attacks from the vile creatures before you meet up with the rest of the zombie response team. Pumpkin Festival at Cheeseman Farm

Cheeseman Farm is a family owned and operated attraction offering a variety of activities and amenities. The Pumpkin Festival is a great way to spend a day with the family and enjoy the fall weather.  Start a new family tradition by taking a hay ride to our pumpkin patch, spend some time enjoying the petting zoo and browsing seasonal items and gifts. Fall Concert Series by Allegheny County

Allegheny County Parks

Music brings people together in a way that nothing else does. These Fall Concerts in our parks are a great way to enjoy music and to connect with other music fans. The Fall Concert Series will be held on Saturdays beginning on Saturday, September 16th and ending on Saturday, October 7th. All concerts start at 2 PM and will be using the county’s showmobile stage at a different county park each week. Vendors will also offer food and drink for purchase at each concert. Pumpkin Patch Trolley

Pennsylvania Trolley Museum, Washington, PA

As summer winds down and fall approaches, it means one thing: fall fun at Museum! We will host our annual Pumpkin Patch Trolley. Visitors are invited to experience the fall season with rides on trolleys that are outfitted with autumn decorations. Visitors can ride to the Trolley Display building where they can tour the large collection of trolleys.  Children can select a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and then take it to the events room where they will be able to decorate it. Each purchase of a child’s ticket includes a pumpkin; those who would like to purchase an additional pumpkin may do so for an additional cost. There will be children’s games and complimentary fall themed refreshments. Add to the fall fun by dressing up in your favorite costume. The last trolley of the day will leave for the pumpkin patch at 3:30PM. Admission includes tours of the museum and unlimited rides on the trolleys. This is a rain or shine event. Fair Haven Farms provides plenty of open space for social distancing while enjoying your fall family activities. Fun Center, food shack, explanded hayride trail, pumpkin patch, corn maze, and petting zoo. For the pre-teen and over crowd, try out the giant bouncy balls! Bedford's Fall Foliage has continually brought people together over crafts, art, music, and fellowship. PumpkinFest

Confluence, PA

PumpkinFest is held beginning the first Friday in October in the village of Confluence, Pennsylvania. Confluence is located in the southwestern corner of Somerset County, along routes 281 and 523. It is situated along the banks of the Youghiogheny and Casselman Rivers and Laurel Hill Creek. This festival gives arts & crafts and food vendors the opportunity to show and sell their goods in the town park. It also features many interesting and exciting events. Among those are the Pumpkinfest Queen Pageant, a 5K run/walk, an antique and classic auto show, a parade and a largest pumpkin contest. Delmont Apple 'N Arts Festival

Shields Farm, Delmont, PA

The Delmont Apple ‘n Arts Festival is an annual fall event in Delmont, Pennsylvania. With over 100 craft/art and food vendors, you can find handmade items from local crafters, delicious food, antique farm equipment, and fresh-pressed apple cider that you can see pressed right before your eyes by a 1907 antique apple press! Fort Ligonier Days

Commemorating a key battle of the French & Indian War, which occurred on October 12, 1758, Fort Ligonier Days draws tens of thousands of visitors each year to the quaint, picturesque town of Ligonier in the beautiful Laurel Highlands. Spookley the Square Pumpkin 🎃 Digital Toolkit

Spookley the Square Pumpkin, the “Official Spokes-Pumpkin” for National Bullying Prevention Month, is a square pumpkin who lives in a round pumpkin patch world. Spookley helps early learners discover that the things that make us different are the things that make us special!

This Spookley the Square Pumpkin Digital Toolkit provides educators and caregivers with resources to help promote kindness, acceptance, and inclusion in their classrooms, homes, and communities. It includes video readings of the books The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin and Spookley the Square Pumpkin, A Family to be Thankful For, along with the downloadable discussion and activity guides. Physical copies of the books are available for purchase online  but not required for the toolkit. In addition to the video readings available at no cost with the toolkit, the Spookley the Square Pumpkin movie can be seen on Disney Junior and Netflix and is available for rental or purchase via all of the major digital platforms (e.g., Amazon, Apple, Google, YouTube).
