Looking for things to do with kids in the South Hills for Valentine’s Day? Not only do we have a jam-packed event calendar filled with activities, but we’ve also made it easy by rounding up 13 fun ways to celebrate Valentine’s Day with kids in Pittsburgh!

1) The Rink at PPG Place

Spend your Valentine’s Day ice skating! The Rink at PPG Place closes for the season on February 28, so Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to get one last skate in.

2) Hearts in the Park: February 13th, 2021

Children's Museum of Pittsburgh

Take the family out to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and get ready for some socially distanced, outdoors fun! Join them for a free Valentine’s celebration outside the Children's Museum and in Buhl Community Park from 4 to 8 PM. Expect kid-friendly activities and exhibits that spread joy, creativity, and kindness. Hearts in the park is free, with no registration required, and is a walk-up or drive through event that will require social distancing and masks.


3) Virtual Photo Booth

Do you typically take a romantic photo on Valentine's Day but have FOMO this year? No need to worry, you can still have your photo taken at Lake Elizabeth in Northside, on Mt, Washington near the Monongahela Incline or at the Schenley Park Skating Rink all without having to leave your house. 4) Do a Valentine’s Day Craft!

There are so many heart-themed crafts that are perfect for Valentine’s Day with your kids. Some of our favorites are a paper heart chain, a Valentine wreath, and a Valentine heart craft


 5) Pittsburgh Reptile Show: Feb. 14th, 2021

Even though this isn’t a typical way to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Pittsburgh Reptile Show is a super unique way to spend the day! You can buy, sell, trade, and learn about the 1000s of animals on display. There will also be tons of Valentine’s Day deals! Come enjoy the day, learn, and see a ton of amazing animals.


6) Tell a Punny Joke to Someone You Love

7) Andy Warhol Museum Virtual Workshop: Feb. 13

Warhol shook up the art world with the release of his Campbell’s Soup prints. This year, you and your kids can create a fun and unique flavor for your valentine with Love Potion Soup, a virtual workshop for early learners. You will be able to experience a mix of storytelling, hands-on synchronous art-making, movement, and independent exploration!


8) Cupid's Quest 

Go on a scavenger hunt with your family in South Park, looking for hidden Cupid's around the Township. Solve all the puzzles and turn in your photos in exchange for a treat bag!

Still not leaving the house but love the idea of a scavenger hunt? 10) Drive-In Movie Theater in Moon Township

Head to Moon Township for a family-friendly date night under the stars! The Dependable Drive In is showing kids movies all Valentine’s Weekend like “The Croods: A New Age” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles".

11) Get Hot Cocoa Bombs

When I think about Valentine’s Day, chocolate is one of the first things that comes to my mind. Luckily, one of this year’s trendiest item is a hot cocoa bomb! There are many local small businesses around Pittsburgh and in the South Hills that sell them and some of these stores wrap them beautifully. This makes them the perfect Valentine’s Day gift!





12) Make a Valentine’s Day Recipe

SO many recipes can be transformed into Valentine’s Day-themed! We love Valentine’s Day breakfastlollipop Valentines, and Valentine’s brownies


13) Dance the Day Away!

Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre will be hosting a Valentine's Day Virtual Workshop for teens and adults looking to keep things moving on Valentine's Day!
