Description

Allen’s Haunted Hayrides started in October 1979, by 2 brothers, Richard and Ronald Allen, and ran in conjunction with the, then, Uniontown Greater Jaycees. They operated these hayrides together for a few years. Then, the 2 brothers operated the hayrides on their own.

But, hayride hauling actually started in the 1960’s, by Ralph Allen, father of Richard and Ronald Allen. He hauled hayrides for various church and scout groups. Richard and Ronald got into the business of hauling hayrides with their father and then by themselves. This all came out of the need to financially assist their dairy farm.

Today, Ronald and his son, Clinton, along with their immediate families, continue to farm and raise their 250 registered dairy cows along with operate Allen’s Hayrides.

Throughout the years, the course of the hayride route has been altered. A road was put through a forest, and bonfires, carnival rides, and games were also added to the hayride attraction. Bonfires are by reservation only. The carnival rides are included with the price of the hayride ticket.

In 2015, The Tavern of Terror was added. In the past, the building containing the haunted house served as a dairy store to sell the farm’s milk and ice cream. When the dairy store and the farm’s processing plant closed in the 1980’s, the building was converted into a tavern. First, it was the Happy Heifer Lounge and then Pizon’s Place. The building now serves as our haunted house-The Tavern of Terror.
