Summer is a great time to learn some new music skills and make some new friends too! Most camps are half day, but combine two camps on the same week to create a full day camp experience with an hour between for lunch and outdoor time! Each camp's schedule will vary, but expect a full day filled with games, fun, music, friends, and memories!
Theseus and the Minotaur Musical Theater Camp will bring the world of Greek myth to life with this classic tale of high drama, heroes and heroines, sad farewells, and the gripping suspense – all set to music! Each camper will be involved in speaking parts, singing in both melody and harmony, a small set design, and more! Campers will perform this 25-minute musical at the end of the two-week session. Songs include: Living in the Ancient World, The Black-Sailed Ship, That’s What Friends Are For, In the Labyrinth, Time to Celebrate! In addition to group rehearsals, a coaching session with our fantastic voice teachers will be provided! Parents are invited to join us for the performance on Friday at 2:00!

Musical Sampler Camp is for students who love music but aren’t sure which instrument is right for them! Each day we will try different instruments including piano, guitar, ukulele, drums, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments! We will also explore a variety of music genres including jazz, classical, rock, pop, and folk. Expect hands on fun, games, music, and movement! Combine this camp with Pop Spectacular Voice Camp to have a longer day camp with an hour between for lunch and outside time!

Pop Spectacular Voice Camp This camp is for lovers of Taylor Swift, One Direction, Michael Jackson, Olivia Rodrigo, or any pop music! Students will have the opportunity to sing as a group as well as individually if they choose! The camp will introduce the basics of solfege singing, harmony, warming up, music reading, strengthening the voice, and more! In addition to group rehearsals, a private coaching session with our fantastic voice teachers will be provided! Parents are invited to join us for the performance on Friday at 3:30! Combine this camp with Musical Sampler Camp to have a longer day camp with an hour between for lunch and outside time!

Creative Percussion is the camp for any student who love high-energy activities! We will be using buckets, drum sticks, Boomwhakers, shakers, cups, trash cans, tissue boxes, hand drums, and more to explore rhythm! All students are welcome to join this camp- it is not exclusive to percussionists! No experience is required, but even experienced students can benefit by improving rhythm reading comprehension, developing ensemble playing skills, reacting and responding to musical cues, and sparking creativity! Friday we will host a performance for families to watch our spectacular show.

Little Music Makers Camp is for our youngest musical learners! Students will have a blast with a high energy music and movement camp! In addition to music and movement activities and games, we will be keeping it loud by making our own instruments, using Boomwhackers and handbells to play melodies as a group, and learning some rhythm by drumming on buckets and other unconventional items!

Discovery Piano Camp is for anyone who has no piano experience at all. Campers will have fun learning all the basics of piano through songs, games, and outdoor activities! Each camper will create their own piano “lapbook” to take home, and we will learn a basic tune to perform at the end of the week!

Campfire Guitar Camp is for beginner guitar students who would like to learn to play some campfire tunes! Students can come knowing some guitar, or we can teach the basic chords needed for the camp. If student does not have a guitar, we have a limited number of guitars that we can lend- be sure to talk to us about that! Camp would not be complete without some fun camp games and smores, and we will end the week with a “campfire” style sing along!

Music Makers Camp at the Upper St. Clair Recreation Center gives campers a chance to learn about music through movement, games, songs, hands on activities and more! Campers will play handbells, Boomwhackers, drums, rhythm instruments from around the world, and instruments that they create themselves using recycled materials. Props like scarves, parachutes, bean bags, sand blocks, stories, and puppets help students to learn some music basics such as pitch, rhythm, beat, dynamics, and artistry. Songwriting Camp is for any instrumentalist or vocalist who would like to get creative! Each day includes time for the “Essentials of a Great Composition” workbook, listening/studying pieces by great classical composers as well as modern pedagogical composers, short composition activities, improvisation, making an instrument, and free composition time. Over the course of the week, students will have the goal of writing a piece of music for their instrument. Parents can join us at 11:30 on Friday for the Composition Showcase. Combine this camp with Snowman in Summer Voice Camp for a full-day camp experience brimming with creativity!

Snowman in Summer Voice Camp brings the fun of winter into the heat of summer- It’s everything Olaf ever dreamed of! We will sing tunes that remind us of winter, and we will eat snow cones, play games with ice and snow, and make snowflakes and winter crafts. Students will have the opportunity to sing as a group as well as individually if they choose, and individual songs can be about winter or about anything. The camp will introduce the basics of solfege singing, harmony, warming up, music reading, strengthening the voice, microphone basics, and more! Lilo and Stitch Ukulele Camp Stitch knows how to play the ukulele, and now you can too! We provide campers with the basics they need to strum and play basic ukulele music. Ukuleles will be available to borrow or purchase if campers do not have their own ukulele. Campers will learn four Ukulele pieces including a song from the Lilo and Stitch Movie. Campers can also expect games, crafts, and activities all centered around our theme. We will end the week with a luau style performance! Combine this camp with Rock Band Camp to create a full day camp with an hour for lunch in the middle!

Rock Band Camp is the camp for students who have been playing for at least a year and would like to rock out with other musicians! Campers can be instrumentalists or vocalists. Adventure Piano Camp is for beginners who already have some experience under their belt. This camp will use fun, games, activities, and time at the keyboard to reinforce vocabulary, rhythm, and reading skills. In addition, campers will learn a piece of music to perform for family members at the end of the week with a small group of other students. This ensemble playing experience is vital for pianists who have very little opportunity to play with others. Parents can join us at the end of the week for a performance of what we learned this week!

Advanced Beginners
Kaleidoscope Piano Camp is for intermediate and advanced students. Some of the goals for this camp will be to improve creativity and improvisation, practice playing in duet and ensemble settings, and to improve motivation for playing! Students will be working from a book “Les Petite Images,” a fun, engaging, and challenging book by Jennifer Linn. The book is in impressionist style which will be new for most campers. In addition, students will be grouped with other students with similar abilities to learn ensemble and duet pieces. Students will begin (or continue) their Piano Journey Notebook, which is a scrapbook of their own personal piano journey. In addition, we will work on theory, rhythm, ear training through age-appropriate games, individual piano coaching, and we will have some guest speakers as well! Finally, the week will culminate in a parent performance at the end of the week!

- Can we do an early drop off or late pick up?
Extending camp hours may be available on a case to case basis! Just reach out and we can help you make arrangements! Just don’t forget to block off time for the performance!
- May I do just one week?
Yes! You can sign up for as many or few weeks of summer camp as interest you and work for your schedule!
- Is food provided?
We provide two snacks each day. Campers attending a full day should pack a lunch or bring money. We will order from a local pizza shop.
- Can I pay online?
Yes! For your convenience, our invoices will be sent out automatically at the end of each month, and you can just click the link to pay online! Summer camp is billed in one lump sum, but we can split the tuition up into monthly payments for your convenience!
- What happens if I have to change or cancel a camp?
You may change your camp selection anytime before May 1 without incurring an additional fee. Tuition is non-refundable, but credits on your account can be used towards any summer camp, class, or lesson. Lewis Music Studio does reserve the right to cancel a session if enrollment is too low, and in that case, tuition will be refunded in full.
- Do you offer any discounts?
Our Early Bird Discount of $25 per camp is available until March 31.
- Is financial aid available?
You may apply for financial aid through our Crescendo Kids Music Fund hosted by B.R.I.D.D.G.E. People. We are also looking for families to sponsor students in need of financial aid. B.R.I.D.D.G.E. People is a non-profit 501c3 organization, and sponsorships are fully tax deductible.
