Felt Pie Making
We love the Old Lady series of books. They work on so many sequencing and processing skills. For this activity I made felt pretend pies. You can work on counting, following directions, and so much more depending on your child’s age.
What you’ll need:
- Keebler’s pie pans
- Brown felt
- Cotton balls
- Pom pom balls
- Nature Turkey Craft
Nature Turkey Craft
For this activity, we always go on a nature walk to find the perfect pinecone. We try to look for feathers as well, but craft feathers work perfectly. This activity is great to work on identifying colors, patterns and more.
What you’ll need:
- Pinecone
- Craft feathers
- Google eyes
- Orange and brown cardstock
- Tacky Glue
Coffee filter turkey
What you’ll need:
- Coffee filter (I like to double and use two of them)
- Markers
- Spray bottle
- Brown an orange construction paper
- Craft feathers
- Tacky glue
For the coffee filter design, have your child color onto the filter using markers. Then, to blend the colors, use a spray bottle and spray the filter with water. Once it dries, you are able to assemble the turkey!
Styrofoam Turkey
This activity is great for fine motor skills. If you don’t have pony beads or have a younger child, Froot Loops are a great option. With my daughter and son, I worked on counting with them while placing the beads onto the wooden skewer. Working on patterns would be another great activity with this.
What you’ll need:
- Styrofoam ball (color it with brown marker)
- Wooden skewers
- Colored pony beads
- Brown, orange and pink construction paper
