I had the pleasure of attending & Juliet, the hit Broadway musical, at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, and when I tell you I couldn’t have enjoyed & Juliet more, I’m not exaggerating! It truly was "Larger than Life!" and exceeded any expectations that I had. From the first note to the final bow, I was smiling ear-to-ear for nearly three hours during this lively reimagining of Shakespeare’s classic tale. With humor, heart, and a playlist of 30 chart-topping hits, the energy was high and the audience fully engaged. Rachel Simone as Juliet absolutely stole the show, her radiance matched only by her incredible vocals. Corey Mach brought charm and humor as William Shakespeare, while Teal Wicks as his wife Anne (and his ever-so-sensible counterpart) nearly knocked my socks off with her powerhouse rendition of "That's the Way It Is" in Act 2.
The production's inclusive casting and characters, like May, who lives outside the traditional gender binary, added a refreshing layer to the story, making it feel especially relevant for today's audience. Bravo to the cast and creative team—& Juliet is a show you don’t want to miss!
