Currently, I have a very inquisitive 3-year-old son.
"Where do dinosaurs come from?"
"Are mummies monsters?"
"What do sharks eat?"
The limit to how many questions I (try) to answer a day does not exist. Right now, his current muse is Ancient Egypt and mummies, and I love this for him. I always say he is my little old man trapped in a little boy. His interest in history is reminding me of myself as a child and has given us a special bond lately.
Recently, it was his pick for a family fun day, and we got to venture Carnegie Museum of Natural History specifically for 'The Stories We Keep' exhibit displaying ancient Egyptian artifacts. The kids got to be archeologists for the day concluded with a gift from the gift shop and yet another documentary for family movie night. The Exhibit had plenty to do, see, and touch for the littles and it was really fun seeing artifacts over that period.
Creating a life of education and culture was always my priority when I had my kiddos. When we aren't traveling or road-tripping, we are almost always Museum-hopping on the weekends and love having a membership to go throughout the year. I love that our kids can explore all the great big world has to offer, even when we are in our city.
The Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh is one of my favorite visits in the city – it gives the kids an educational, interactive visit and feeds my need for old architecture, and I’m always caught photographing the ceiling!
We are having my son's birthday party at the Museum this summer. If you can guess, he picked Ancient Egypt as a theme. Naturally, that’s not a real theme for a soon-to-be 4-year-old boy, so I gave it a little twist and chose “Archeology Adventure” combining some Egyptian décor with dinosaurs, fossils, and all things discovery. I look forward to sharing all the fun details of his party planning this month!
