It’s that time of the year! Summer is here and we are all ready for a vacation! Here are a few activities that don’t require any prep to keep your toddler and child entertained while on a flight or road trip! I love having these activities in my diaper bag as well! Most of them are reusable, which is a bonus! All of these items can be found on Amazon or a few of them are only sold at Target!
Gobe Snack Spinner- This snack spinner is truly a favorite in our house! It’s interactive and it doesn’t spill! You only can access one snack at a time which makes it great for travel. I like to have two of these on trips. One for regular snacks and then one for snacks I typically don’t give them in case they are getting anxious and want to be done traveling. |
Alphabet window clings - I love using these for all ages! For the toddlers just having them place them on the windows while beginning to work on alphabet recognition. For older children, you can work on spelling sight words and letter sounds as well! |
Dot It Activity Book- This is a great fine motor activity. It’s comes with little stickers to place onto the book to create a picture! I love using these when we are out and about at restaurants waiting for our meal. |
Wiki Sticks - This little activity kit works on so many skills! Just using the sticks to create a picture, imitate shapes, letters and more! The possibilities are endless with these and the good news is they’re reusable! |
Melissa and Doug Sticker books - My children love these! We also have these in my diaper bag and they are reusable. |
Miniature Kinetic Sand Kits - I use these in an emergency situation. They can be messy, but they are small and kids love sensory activities! Every child loves to find hidden treasures. |
4 in 1 game boards - These were a target find that I cannot stop raving about! They are amazing. Everything you need to play four games in one! We will be using these for all of our flights! I found these in the Target dollar spot. |
Countdown to arrival- For every hour that you are traveling whether on a plane or in the car, this is a simple way to pass the time! I use brown paper bags and place either a favorite candy or prize in the bags! Your child can open each bag or every hour that passes for a special surprise. This is always a favorite for us.
Traveling with children can be stressful but being prepared for the flight or road trip can help tremendously! I hope you are inspired to try some of these activities on your next trip.
