The City of Pittsburgh announced today that 15 CitiParks Pools will open on Saturday, June 15, 2024. The hours and days of pool operations will be announced later as staff work on lifeguard scheduling, since the final training class ended this past weekend. CitiParks successfully recruited, certified and onboarded 140 lifeguards for the 2024 Pool Season.
“The staff at CitiParks worked diligently to recruit and hire enough lifeguards for the 2024 Pool Season. I am thankful for their efforts that’s allowing us to once again open 15 Pools for the Summer,” said Mayor Ed Gainey.
Pools that will OPEN are as follows:
AMMON, BANKSVILLE, BLOOMFIELD, HIGHLAND PARK, JACK STACK, MAGEE, MC BRIDE, MOORE, ORMSBY, PHILLIPS, RIVERVIEW, SCHENLEY, SUE MURRAY, WEST PENN and WESTWOOD.
The three pools not opening are due to maintenance issues and not staffing issues.
Those pools remaining closed are:
HOMEWOOD: Due to the major park renovation happening in Homewood Park.
REAM: A cement and liner issue will prevent this pool from opening.
SHERADEN: A number of renovations required for the pool and pool building will prevent this pool from opening.
CitiParks Aquatics staff schedule plan ensures the safe operations of all open pools.
NOTE: Pool Tags will be available beginning opening day at all open pool entry gates. Save time and complete your application before you visit the pools: 2024 Pool Tag Application
