"Giraffes Can't Dance" Grooves to the Byham Theater!

Family Theater in Pittsburgh’s Cultural District

October 19, 2023

Save your family's seats today for the new production of the beloved story Giraffes Can't Dance!

All the animals in the jungle know their own special dance, but Gerald the Giraffe can't seem to move without a clumsy step. But with the help of a wise cricket, he finds his own song, and dances to the beat of his own drum! In this stage adaptation of the beloved children's book, with puppets, African rhythm, and lots of dancing, Gerald learns that his differences are what make him special.

A wonderful introduction to live shows for the youngest theater-goers, this production based on the book by Giles Andreae promises to rejoice in our differences and celebrate the way each and every audience member is unique!

Giraffes Can’t Dance is produced by Wishing Star Productions and is presented as part of the Dentons, Cohen & Grigsby Trust Presents series from the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust. With the goal of bringing a diverse array of entertainment from live music and roaring comedies to literary luminaries and world-famous artists, there’s something for everyone in the Cultural District!

Families can also enjoy the theatrical offerings of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s Children’s Theater Series (for ages 3+) and Bridge Theater Series (for ages 7+)! Subscriptions are on sale now beginning at just $10 per show with recognizable friends like The Rainbow Fish and Dog Man alongside new adventures from the cirque spectacles of Blizzard and innovative animations of Song of the North.
