The Beauty of Self-Care: How Lashes Simplifies My Life as a Busy Mom

By Emily Papa, Macaroni KID South Hills Publisher October 2, 2023

As a busy mom of two, life moves at lightning speed. Between juggling after-school extracurricular pick-ups, baseball games, volleyball practice, and countless other responsibilities, it's easy to lose sight of one critical aspect: self-care. Yet, self-care is not a luxury; it's a necessity.  As mothers, we often put our own needs last, but it's essential to remember that we deserve care and attention too so that we can be the best versions of ourselves for our families. That's where The Lash Lounge comes into my life, offering a precious gift of "me" time that's not just indulgent but also incredibly practical.

Every two weeks, I walk through the doors of The Lash Lounge South Hills, and I’m greeted with a smile (and an offer for a beverage) from their friendly team. Once the glass doors slide open, and I get settled into my lounge chair all snuggled up under a warm faux fur blanket, I know that this is more than just a lash fill; it's a moment of self-renewal. For the next hour to an hour and a half, I'm ready for my lash nap, I mean, morning meditation.

This "me" time at The Lash Lounge is an investment in my well-being. It's a moment to breathe, recharge, and connect with myself. But the truth is, while I love those 90 minutes of time to myself at The Lash Lounge, the real treat starts when I walk out the door.

With professionally applied lashes, I can see the woman I want to be behind those tired eyes, and I instantly feel more confident without the need for layers of makeup. This confidence has a ripple effect on my daily life as I feel like I can just roll out of bed and walk a bit taller, smile a bit wider, and tackle my to-do list with more enthusiasm.

Don’t get me wrong, sometimes that mom guilt kicks in, and I think of 20 things that I “should” be doing instead of getting my lashes done, but then I have a moment of clarity when I remind myself that taking care of myself is not selfish but necessary to be the best mother and partner I can be.

I think about that confidence and how I just LOVE waking up with lashes that are already long, voluminous, and perfectly curled. I’m not a morning person, so the time saved from a daily makeup routine is a game-changer. Not having to spend time in the morning to curl my lashes and apply mascara allows me to invest my time in more important things like a cup of coffee, a morning snuggle, or doing my daughter's hair before the bus comes. I can’t put a price tag on that.

To me, the Lash Lounge offers more than just a beauty service. It’s the place where I can go where I know I can recharge, refresh, and reemerge with a renewed sense of self, allowing me to be the best mom and person I can be (and feel selfie-ready at all times).

So, to all the busy moms out there, remember that self-care is not an indulgence but a necessity. Whether it's a visit to The Lash Lounge or another place where you feel pampered, prioritize those moments for yourself. Because when you take care of you, you're better equipped to take care of everything and everyone you love.
