Happy Monday my MacKID fam!
As the warm weather approaches, I am excited to announce that I will be taking some time off for Spring break to spend some quality time with my family. After a long few months with our house in complete disarray while under emergency construction, this break is much needed (for all of us).
If you missed it, on Christmas morning we woke up to 4 inches of water on our kitchen floor. We had a frozen pipe that burst, flooding half of our first floor, seeping though the ceilings and HVAC below to our entire finished basement and garage. The icicles you see below are from the water escaping my house, so you can imagine what the inside looked like :(
Less than 24 hours later after we finally got the water somewhat under control, 2 more pipes froze in our master bathroom, now raining from our second floor down. My kids are forever on the nice list with how much patience they had letting us mitigate this disaster before diving into their presents on Christmas morning. But needless to say, it's been a really long start to 2023 with limited use of our house (and sharing a small bathroom with 4 people) and I'm looking forward to two weeks of not having to cook, clean, or walk up plastic lined steps to my bedroom that looks like the scene from ET where they had to contain the whole house floor to ceiling with tarps.
So we're gonna leave that drama in the South Hills while we go to the Dominican Republic.
Before I go I want to take a moment to wish all of you a happy and safe Spring break. Whether you are planning a vacation, a staycation, or simply taking some time off to relax and unwind, I hope that you are able to enjoy this time to the fullest. As always, I encourage you to continue exploring our local communities and finding new ways to create memories with your loved ones. Whether it be trying out a new restaurant or taking a weekend getaway, there are always opportunities to create special moments.
