Last week your MacKID Pittsburgh publisher's took a hosted road trip to the Sullivan Catskills with 2 other PA publishers. We started our trip off right by bringing 2 dozen Valkrie Doughnuts along for the ride and also pulling the winner for our Disney luggage giveaway! Congrats to Jenna from Bethel Park!
We broke up our 6-hour drive from Pittsburgh to New York by stopping to see another PA publisher and friend of ours in Wilkes-Barre PA. We brought her and her kiddos some housewarming gifts from the Picket Fence in Shadyside, SUCH a cute boutique with something for everyone!
Before we knew it we arrived at our destination, The Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark. The Kartrite is a modern family-friendly resort and also NY’s biggest indoor water park, located only 90 minutes from NYC. We didn’t even unpack our things before we hit the water slides.
And I wonder how my phone died... |
Our second day in the Sullivan Catskills was spent floating down the Delaware River with Lander’s River Trips. We had so much fun laughing together, swimming in the clear waters, and trying to spot bald eagles' nests.
Pittsburgh West, City, South Hills, North Huntington, Uniontown and Johnstown in the boat! |
After a day of fun in the sun, we toured Villa Roma Resort and enjoyed a 5-course meal. Villa Roma Resort sits on 500 acres of land and houses 3 swimming pools, a 40-person hot tub, 18-hole champion golf course, horseback riding, bumper boats, rock climbing, and a zip line that goes directly over a pond. As if their outdoor activities aren’t impressive enough, because they are a year-round facility, they also have an indoor pool, bowling alley, bounce park, arcade, soft play area, and indoor play center. I feel like that doesn’t even touch the tip of what Villa Roma Resorts has to offer. You know that they are doing something right when they are taking care of 5th generation guests!
My FAVORITE part of the trip was visiting Bethel Woods Center. You might have seen some of my stories on social media but stay tuned for a full review on it! I'm telling you now, add this one to your bucket list!
Bethel Woods Center is home to the Woodstock Music Festival |
I also need to give a HUGE shout-out to Rachel, the owner of Opal Rose in McMurray. That woman got me out of my Sam's Club sweats and helped dress me from head to toe for my weekend away. Everything she put me in truly made me feel like a rock star! I highly suggest checking out her boutique and following her on IG or joining her VIP group on Facebook to see her latest inventory.
Feeling like a rock star thanks to Rachel at Opal Rose! |
Whew! Now that I'm back in Pittsburgh and in the swing of things, I feel like there are so many things going on right now and to look forward to! We've been hitting up the festivals and a few indoor play places on the really HOT or rainy days. We've crossed Sandcastle off our list but still have SO many more! While I'm over here making my list, here are a few other things to add to yours!
- FA Climbing is a relatively new spot in Station Square. We met with the manager Emily the other day, and she got us super pumped about everything their climbing gym has to offer, and how they are making it easier for parents to stop in to work out (with or without their kids). They are hosting a FAmily Day this Saturday that sounds like it's worth checking out. No need to worry about Station Square parking fees, they will validate your parking for you :)
- Garden Bros Circus is coming to Pittsburgh on August 18th. If you're planning on going, check out our ticket deals here.
- MasterChef Junior is coming to the Palace Theater in October. While you have some time to plan for this, we are doing a ticket giveaway that you might want to enter now!
- Triple B Farm's has opened up a few dates for PYO Peaches and PYO Sweet Corn this weekend. PYO Peaches are Wed-Fri from 9-2 while supplies last and PYO Sweet Corn is Friday & Sat from 9am-2pm while supplies last. Triple B also has a market where you can pick up fresh veggies for any cookout you are having this summer!
- Back to School! I KNOW I'm not ready to think about it myself, but we are currently working on our back to school guide. If you know of any back to school events or offerings happening in the South Hills, please let me know, so we can add it to the guide!
I think that's it for this week! See you all next week!
