Three Rivers Rowing Youth Learn to Row Camps

2022 Featured Summer Camp

April 25, 2022

Three Rivers Rowing Association (TRRA) is excited to announce the return of their Summer Learn to Row Program!  This program provides a unique view of our city, and allows campers to experience the rivers of Pittsburgh in an entirely new way.  No experience is necessary, and rowing is open to everyone.

TRRA has been running Youth Learn to Row Programs since 1985.  Whether your camper just wants a fun week on the water, is looking to learn a new sport, or intends to become a competitive rower - Three Rivers has the coaching staff and programming to support that.

The Youth Learn to Row Program at TRRA is open to any athlete who will be entering 4th - 12th grade in 2022, and absolutely no experience is necessary.  The primary focus of the Learn to Row Program is learning and fun.  Campers will learn to be comfortable near and on the water, proper boat management and steering skills, basic rowing terminology, and the athletic movements required in rowing.  The program does include some on-land skill instruction and team-building activities. At the end of this program athletes will be prepared to join a competitive program, row with one of our recreational programs, or wait for their next summer experience!

In a new change this year, Three Rivers will also be offering two "Advanced Learn to Row" classes for athletes who complete one week and are looking for a more challenging program for their second week.

The TRRA staff is very excited about another summer of Learn to Row.  Matt Logue, TRRA’s Executive Director, noted “learn to rows are essential for organizational growth and enhanced impact. Ensuring there are multiple, and accessible entry points for all individuals is essential for creating a diverse, inclusive and holistic community both on and off the water.”Bella Deluliis, the Learn to Row Lead Coach added, “reflecting on my work with the Learn-To-Row program, I’ve concluded that there is something truly amazing about watching the athletes gain inspiring confidence over just a week. From their first day when many felt nervous about new people or the “tippy” feeling in the boat to their last day when they had made friends and were racing in the boat at full speed with no hesitation, I was so inspired by their growth and how the kids lit up about newfound friends and passion for the sport, it reminded me how impactful and important positive experiences in rowing can be.”
