Note from the Publisher - April 20th, 2021

By Emily Papa, Macaroni Kid South Hills of Pittsburgh Publisher April 20, 2021

Happy Tuesday! I hope this newsletter finds you well as the weather in the 'Burgh is starting to get warmer. Oh wait, did I hear there's a chance of   flurries tomorrow? Typical Pittsburgh weather for you! I can't complain though as we just got back from a 7-day family vacation of fun in the sun in Cancun. We stayed at the brand new Planet Hollywood and everyone had a blast. I shared a little about our trip on social media but will be publishing a full review here for next week's newsletter as this is a great family vacation destination and a direct flight from Pittsburgh International Air.

As soon as we got home, my little man turned 5 and this mama turned 38. To start off year 38 I went to South Side for my second Pfizer vaccine. We had a small family brunch here on Saturday to celebrate and all of my focus since we have been home has been on trying to get my family back on track while planning his Superhero celebration. We had an opportunity to work with and support some amazing local vendors and spend time with family that we haven't seen in over a year. These are all good problems to have, so there are no complaints here.

The photo below was taken by Kayla Renee Photography; teepees and decor provided by Pitch a Fête (MacKid readers get a 10% discount with code MACARONIKID10), Balloons provided by Lemonade Balloon Company, boutique dress and shorts sewn by Colorful Creations and cookies baked by Jess COOKies. Stay tuned for more details about the party and the vendors we used!

This week, CertifiKid announced a deal on the PAW Patrol Live Virtual event April 24th and 25th and my colleague Sarah Hauge created a free printable with 31 Promts for Creative Conversations with Kids. We have been adding Camps to the 2021 Summer Camp and Fun Guide weekly and I am so happy to see so many offerings coming back after last years closures. I wish you all a wonderful week! It's time to head off to Ninja Class and then home to work on our seedlings we planted last week; hoping that tomorrow's frost will be the last one!
