Fall into Gratitude

By Emily Papa, Macaroni Kid South Hills of Pittsburgh Publisher November 5, 2020

Happy Fall Y’all!!! I know we started all things fall last month but I feel like it’s not entirely official until Halloween is over and I peel all the spider webs off of my bushes. I hope everyone had a safe and fantastic Halloween! I was pleasantly surprised with how many trick or treaters we had! I didn’t have time to make myself a fancy candy chute but I did individually bag all of our treats and distanced them on two 8 foot tables in an effort to discourage any type of germ spreading. Plus, since Halloween was on a Saturday I was actually able to spend a solid hour giving myself a pretty awesome skull face if I do say so myself. It's a little smeared here but this is me and my little man!

Now we enter the month of November, or as I call it, the month of gratitude. I think November is one of my favorite months because I am fully aware each day of my level of gratitude and if I need to "fall" into more of it. I really believe that gratitude is one of the most important principles I can incorporate into my life on a daily basis that can instantly change my attitude and circumstances. If you follow us on Instagram you can join me in my daily gratitude posts for the month of November 💗

New month, new plans. Be sure to check the Monthly Calendar in between newsletters for updates when you are planning your week! During the entire month of November kids can have Free Admission to Heinz History Center AND Free Admission to Fort Pitt Museum!

You wanna know what’s great to having a family friendly realtor as a site sponsor? Having the inside scoop (y’all know I love having the inside scoop)! One thing that hasn’t changed during COVID-19 is that people are still buying houses, well, maybe even more so as I hear they are moving like hotcakes! If you are looking for a new place in the South Hills (or know someone who is), Mike Pohlot with Berkshire Hathaway can help you find it. Check out this listing he is leaking EXCLUSIVELY to Mac Kid readers!!!! It won't even be on the market until next week! I’m super PB&Jelly of that AMAZING kitchen!!!

Speaking of kitchens’, does anyone host Thanksgiving? This is the first year in 7 years that my mother-in-law has been in PA for Thanksgiving, so I think we will be hosting it at our house in a few weeks. I was thinking about putting together a Thanksgiving Recipe Guide for our readers so if you have something that you love to make/take/eat for Thanksgiving dinner and want to see it featured on Macaroni Kid, please send it to me at emilyp@macaronikid.com

I also have a fun and simple Thanksgiving craft to share with you! Prior to being a SAHM, I was a drug and alcohol therapist at an inpatient facility. Each year we would have about 60 patients spending the holidays with us, so I was always looking for creative ways to work therapeutic lessons into crafting and this is one that we did year after year! I love that it is so simple that a kid could do it but so impactful that adults love it. I hope you love it as much as I do! If you make one, take a photo of it and tag us on social media for a chance to be featured! #macaronikidsouthhills
