Creation Labs is a neighborhood makerspace offering easy access for creative minds to a maker community with learning expertise. As a “fitness club” for the innovative mind and budding inventor, we offer instruction in 3D printing and allied skills, as well as the use of a full range of printers and related equipment for members. Also, Creation Labs retail store offers 3D printers, filament, accessories and 3D design & printing services.
Role
Our Promotion and Events Coordinator actively engages with guests, calls potential members, helps plan events, and posts to social media to sell memberships, products and services.
Responsibilities
- Actively create and execute Creation Labs social media marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn), email campaigns (MailChimp), phone canvassing, and website inquiries
- Develop a weekly email “newsletter” campaign to attract new members and keep existing members engaged in the activities
- Plan and execute in-store membership events, birthday parties, and robotics meetings
- Coordinate and attend events outside of Creation Labs such as Maker Faire, car shows, trade shows, and other events with a “booth”
- Replace and refresh retail signage with updated communication campaigns
- Perform minor tasks through Club Automation and WordPress keeping the website updated with the latest information about memberships, classes, events, and special promotions
- Greet and build rapport with existing members
- Handle member issues and questions
- Answer all incoming inquiries and obtain appropriate information
- Process transactions using Clover system, accept payments and handle cash
- Greet and welcome guests into store, engage their interest, and assist them with introducing them to Creation Labs, our memberships, workshops, products and 3D print services
- Maximize membership and retail sales, especially signing up new members
Skills and Experience of Our Ideal Candidate
- Outgoing personality, customer-focused approach, and positive attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for social media, email, phone calls and personal interactions
- Prefer university course work with focus on marketing or communications
- Prefer experienced Makers with 3D printing, laser cutting and computer numerical control (CNC) equipment and related software
- Demonstrated results promoting and selling merchandise
- Interest in learning new technology
Requirements for role and responsibilities
- Employee occasionally sits, walks, kneels and reaches with hands and arms
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs
- Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts
- Noise level in the environment is occasionally loud
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for up to 8 hours
