Note from the Publisher - August 25th, 2020

August 24, 2020

Happy Monday!!!! We have been crazy busy over here at MacKid South Hills so this newsletter is jam packed with goodies and the website is being updated MULTIPLE TIMES DAILY with local content! Y'all are keeping this girl moving!

My daughter is getting on the bus here shortly to go off to second grade today...

*Cue the tears*

We're starting off the year 5 days a week in school, so I'm anxious to see how it's going to go! Last night we labeled all of her school supplies and signed her into her new school issued Chromebook. I'm really hoping that it is used to enhance her school experience but isn't used as the main medium for education. I guess all of those studies about limiting screen time have just been tossed to the wayside during the Pandemic? We'll see! If you haven't started school yet, be sure to check out Back-to-School Printables to Celebrate that First Day for free printables for WHATEVER type of learning you chose to do this school year.

In case you missed the latest update (I mean, there are just SOOOOOO many), PA schools are requiring children of all ages to wear masks while in class and one of the most frequent questions that has been popping up in my news feed is- where is the best place to buy a mask? Where can I find one that is good for kids? Macaroni Kid has been working on finding the answer for you by compiling a list of local individuals and small businesses that are making and selling masks- along with other cool PPE accessories like mask headbands, face shields, hand sanitizer holders and mask hangers! Check out the South Hills Mask Guide to find the perfect fit for you and your family all while supporting local! #shoplocal

Congrats to MacKid subscriber Jackie Lewis for winning the 4-pack of FunDay tickets to Kennywood Park. If you haven't visited yet this summer, you still have some time! You can read about our adventures in the park last week in Family Fun is Back at Kennywood Park!

This week Macaroni Kid has another giveaway sponsored by a beautiful local mama that I had the pleasure of meeting earlier this year and who is an inspiration to me!!! You can read all about her and the giveaway deets here.

While you are mapping out your week, check out this week's events to see what's new. We're working hard trying to give a good mix of in-person and virtual activities. Have an event you'd like to add? You can do it here.

Have a high school or college student at home looking for an internship?

Calling local businesses looking for sponsorship opportunities!
We are currently in the works of publishing two new guides and are looking for local sponsors.

The first opportunity is for the South Hills Mask Guide to support local individuals and businesses who are making masks for the community. If you are interested in sponsoring this guide, please message me at emilyp@macaronikid.com.

If you are a local business or individual who makes masks and wants to be featured in the guide, please fill out your information here and I will contact you.

The second guide to be released will be the 2020 Fall Family Fun Guide. If you are a business interested in sponsoring the guide or being listed in it, please contact me for availability at emilyp@macaronikid.com

Wishing everyone a wonderful week!!!
