The Ultimate Summer Movie Guide - COVID Edition

August 9, 2020

One of the things I have looked forward to the past few summers with my kiddos have been discounted or free summer movies and outdoor screenings. We love it so much that we've been known to host outdoor movie nights in our own back yard! Unfortunately, movie theaters are yet another COVID casualty this year. But not to fret, there are still a ton of options to get your cinema kick in. Most of these are listed on our events calendar but you can always bookmark this page for quick reference. Please note, while the movies are outside, most venues require you to stay in your vehicle or war a mask. Please check for these details from the provider's pages linked below before attending. We will be constantly checking for updates and additions but if you know of any, please feel free to leave them in the comments! Allegheny County Family Drive-In: South Park

These free movies will be playing weekly in South Park in the South Park Ice Rink Parking lot. Gates open at 7 pm and the show will start at dusk. We drove by this past Thursday around 8 and the lot was PACKED so be sure to get there early to ensure a good spot! Plus, capacity is limited to 125 vehicles per movie. This is like your traditional drive-in where you will stay at a social distance from others, watching the movie from your own vehicle. If you want a snack during the show, Ekternally Yours Popcorn will be there selling candy, popcorn and more. Please go to their website here to place your order.
