* Winter Snowflakes- INDOORS!

A Craft That's Crystal Cool!

January 30, 2015

No need to wait for the weather to cooperate to have beautiful snowflakes!  This is by far one of the coolest projects I’ve done and so super easy!

Supplies:
Large containers or individual cups for each snowflake
Borax (Found in the laundry isle of your grocery store.)
Pipe Cleaners

Step 1.  Shape your pipe cleaners into any snowflakes shape you like. These can be simple for younger kids or more elaborate for the older ones.  You will need to decide if you’re just going to leave one “arm” of the snowflake long to hang it from or if you’re going to use fishing line.  I decided to just make one part of the snowflake longer to save a step.
Step 2:  Boil 1 cup of water and dissolve 3 tablespoons of Borox in the water.
Step 3:  Hang your snowflake from a pencil or other horizontal apparatus to keep it dangling in the water without touching the sides or bottoms. If you’re doing more than 1 in a container, make sure they don’t touch each other.

Step 4:  Let them set out overnight and be ready to be amazed at what you see in the morning!!!!
