Nothing says summer and Father’s Day like a big batch of barbeque! We decided to do a “theme” this Father’s Day and go with “Dad is King of the Grill” and it turned out super cute.
SAUCE: I am not so good in the kitchen but I am GREAT at mixing ingredients LOL so I found a simple barbeque sauce recipe that my kids helped me make. Fair warning that there are tons of ingredients but that made it all the more fun for the kids to mix. They aren’t quite old enough to help with the cooking portion of it but they loved pouring and mixing!
BRUSH: This brush was a super simple craft that took no time at all but adds a nice touch to the overall theme. My kids just used acrylic paint and had at it! Although I was surprised it was hard to find wooden brushes but I did locate some at Wal-mart. These also dried really quickly so it’s perfect for a last minute gift.
APRON: For this “King of the Grill” apron, I just used orange and yellow handprints of each of my kids. I found a kid-safe fabric paint so the apron can be washed easily…after all, this is a functioning apron and not to be hung in the closet! To complete the face, I just used small tubes of fabric paint that is safe to be washed 48 hours after application. If you have nice handwriting, the lettering on the apron would look great using the same paint as on the face of the lion. HOWEVER, I do NOT have nice handwriting so I bought some iron-on letters at the craft store and simply ironed them on.
