Don’t let the summer break stunt your child’s development.
Lab Ratz Science Club has been serving the Pittsburgh area since 2005. We offer inquiry science based programs, which gives students a real hands-on experiences to promote critical thinking skills.
Our summer program is educational, but filled with fun experiments that will keep your child engaged through-out the entire camp. Students design their own experiments, rockets, environments, and anything else that might pique their interest. From chemical reactions and controlled explosions, to dissecting sharks our camp is packed with scientific awesomeness!
Our program focuses more on learning and less on teaching, and this year we will be learning about what it will take to live on Mars. Our biology students will take a close look at the problems we have traveling to a new planet and what life would be like on Mars. Students will try to figure out ways to best terraform this planet while figuring out how Life is able to thrive on Earth. During the Biology camp students create environments, capture critters, extract DNA, dissect frogs, eyes, sharks, and so much more! During our Physics camp students explore motion and Newton’s Laws to find the best ways for traveling and will construct and design their own rockets, and rovers. Students will also experiment with non-reflective materials to learn about dark matter and how we can warp space and time to travel through the cosmos.
Biology: Packing for MarsDiscover the difficulties humans will endure while traveling to-- and living on-- Mars. In this camp students extract DNA from cells, culture bacteria, use professional quality microscopes, and explore chemicals as we continue our search for Alien life! Students can also participate in optional dissections!
Physics: Falling for NewtonStudents will use the foundation of Newton’s laws to find the best ways for time travel as we explore all options from black holes to worm holes. In this camp students use experimental lasers to build and design laser tables. In addition, the students will construct rockets, rovers, and anything else humans can launch through the air!
